Responsible, as Lead Front End Developer, for the building of templates (XHTML, CSS and some JavaScript) for Romo Fabrics, a family run Queen’s Award winning business that designs and markets exclusive furnishing and upholstery fabrics, trimmings and wall-coverings for residential and contract interiors.

Even though this site doesn’t sell anything directly, Magento was used, due to it’s rich cataloguing and search features. There are currently five design houses operating under The Romo Group: Romo, Mark Alexander, Zinc, Villa Nova and Kirkby Design, each with its own signature style and colour palette. This site was the template on which the design and build of all the sites was based.

The site is available in six languages and considerations for length of words affecting the layout, when viewed in some languages, was a big concern in the build stages. The original homepage, which can be seen below, was required to scale full screen from small to very wide monitors, and still retain the smoothness and quality of presentation demanded across the website.

Cufon was used for menu fonts, I found this use of font replacement a great step up from SIFR, on our way to the modern day use of Font-Face.
